Ethical Experience
Human trafficking is a known problem in the adult entertainment industry. We improve detection and prevention
We need your help to succeed
The legal definition of sex trafficking is using force, fraud or coercion to compel a commercial sex act
Unfortunately, coercion is happening. This is easy to fix with improved detection and training
The problem
Some madams are highly focused on client satisfaction and making money. This can result in using coercion to compel a commercial sex act. If a worker likes client “A” but refuses client “B”, some madams will coerce her to accept client “B”. She tells the girl she can either accept client “B” or leave the club. This is awful as the girl has a choice of either non-consensual sex with client “B” or having a financial crisis
The solution
Club owners 1) make it clear a madam could get fired for doing this and 2) post a “Worker’s bill of rights” in a public place. We recommend the hallway between the bar area and the rooms. The posting includes instructions about how to send an anonymous tip to us if there is a problem
How you can help
When you visit a club, suggest they join Ethical Experience. There is no cost for them to join and it is free advertising. Then when you visit the club and are headed to the room, ensure the bill of rights is posted
This simple process informs madams that coercion is a crime and there is a high probability of getting caught. Most have no idea this is a crime. They worry about minors and pimping laws but they don’t seem to know coercion is human trafficking. Effective training and detection might completely solve the problem. If it doesn’t, we will ask law enforcement for help. An officer could be client “B”. This would be an easy arrest so it would be stupid for a madam to take the risk
